マクシオン軍EXAMACS（エグザマクス）の装甲様式の一つ。
肩部装甲に、作動肢を介して覆い被せる形で装備するためにインバネスと呼ばれるようになる。
自重軽減機構を内装するため1.5倍〜−1.5倍の間で重量を調整可能。重厚な見た目に反した軽快な動作と、カウンターウエイトとして物理攻撃時の威力増加を両立している。ただし、自重軽減機構のエネルギー消費が激しい為、装備はリアクター出力に余裕がある機体に限られる。

内部スペースと前後左右4箇所のアタッチメントベイに追加武装をマウント可能。（電磁バレルビーム砲、シャーデンフロイデシステム、電磁バリアシステム、追加作動肢…など）

装甲インバネスの構造／ Armored Inverness structure

装甲インバネスを保持するための作動肢は肩の第一装甲から伸びている。
インバネス内に装備する兵装によって多少異なるが、基本的にインバネス用の作動肢は複数の関節と回転軸を持ち前後180度、上向き90度程度の自由度があり、敵の攻撃方向に併せて稼働する。

装甲インバネスの自重軽減機構、電磁バレルビーム砲とも、エネルギー消費が激しいため、通常機体では不可能な組み合わせとなる。
リアクター出力が異常に高い【ZERO】のみが可能な形態。

装甲インバネス内にシャーデンフロイデシステムのナノマシーン制御装置を内蔵した形態。面頬のブレードアンテナとセットで装備される。装甲インバネスのアタッチメントベイにもシャーデンフロイデシステムの補助アンテナが追加装備される。
